Leading Hand Wastewater

About the role

As a Leading Hand Wastewater, you'll play a key role in maintaining, repairing and constructing the City's wastewater infrastructure while leading day-to-day field operations across the network. Working alongside a skilled crew, you'll coordinate resources, organise work programs and support the safe and efficient delivery of essential maintenance and capital works.

This is a varied and hands-on leadership opportunity where you'll lead from the front, mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement across wastewater operations. You'll be involved in a diverse range of specialist activities including:

  • Wastewater network maintenance and repairs
  • CCTV inspections and sewer investigations
  • Sewer rehabilitation works and infiltration/inflow investigations
  • Minor construction and renewal works
  • Live sewer operations and emergency response activities
  • Coordination of plant, contractors and operational resources

You'll enjoy a combination of technical work, problem solving, customer engagement and team leadership while helping ensure reliable wastewater services for our growing community.

About you

You are an experienced wastewater professional who enjoys leading from the front. You bring strong technical knowledge, sound judgement and a practical approach to coordinating people, plant and resources to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes.

You take pride in supporting your team, solving problems and providing excellent service to customers and the community. Whether responding to operational issues, delivering maintenance programs or mentoring less experienced staff, you're committed to getting the job done safely and efficiently.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations or an equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in wastewater maintenance, repairs, construction and operations
  • MR Licence
  • Strong leadership, communication and customer service skills
  • A commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement
  • Relevant industry certifications including White Card and other wastewater industry competencies.

  • Competitive salary commencing from $67,102 per annum plus applicable allowances and 12% superannuation
  • Permanent Full-Time position working 38 hours per week
