The Opportunity
We are seeking a strategic, self-aware, and growth-minded Business Manager to champion corporate and operational excellence.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and partnering with the Principal and Educational Leaders, the Business Manager ensures our educational vision is backed by sound financial stewardship, efficient operations, and modern technology.

Your key responsibilities in this role include;
1. Financial Management & Stewardship
Lead day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger, month/year-end close, reconciliations, AP/AR, and payroll.
Manage budget planning, cash flow forecasting, 5-year financial modeling, and asset maintenance under COO guidance.
Deliver accurate, visual financial reports, dashboards, and variance analyses for Executive Leadership and the Finance Sub-Committee.
Coordinate annual audits, banking relationships, and trust/building fund compliance.
Future focused on refining and developing improved financial processes and operational systems to support a busy educational environment.
2. Operational, Property & Facilities Leadership
Partner with the Property Manager to oversee campus maintenance, minor capital works, contractor agreements, and grounds presentation.
Manage commercial insurance renewals, claims, and return-to-work coordination.
Provide operational and financial oversight for commercial services, including the uniform shop, canteen, and OSHC.
3. People Leadership & Business Partnering
Lead and mentor administrative, financial, operational, and support teams with a collaborative, student-first culture.
Partner with academic and operational budget holders to strengthen financial capability and accountability.
Co-lead operational IT service models with the Deputy Principal so that the IT service model supports administrative and educational needs.
Providing regular communication and or updates on changes or improved processes through our business operation systems such as Schoolbox and staff meetings.
4. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
Proactively embed child safety, WHS standards, emergency management, and contractor compliance across all operations.
Oversee statutory reporting and acquittals for external bodies (DEEWR, NESA, ACNC, ASIC, ATO), including census submissions and grant management.
Support EBA negotiations, award compliance (e.g., Independent Schools MEAS), and HR policy development.
About You
We welcome applications from candidates with a proven track record in senior financial management, accounting, or commercial operations. We welcome experienced candidates or candidates currently in high-performing Finance Managers or Senior Financial Controller roles that are looking to step up into their first Business Manager position.
The essentials are: Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, Commerce, or Financial Management.
Highly regarded qualifications include: CPA, CA, or IPA status; plus credentials in Project Management, Governance, or Risk.
You must have strong systems literacy, a strategic & growth mindset, be solutions focussed with the ability to translate financial data into operational insights and learn broad business functions quickly, have excellent communication and discretion with sensitive and confidential matters, and most importantly epitomise customer-centric leadership with your approachable and empathetic style.
Mandatory Pre-Employment Clearances will include;
Current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
National Police Check and Bankruptcy Check (clean history under the Bankruptcy Act 1966 and Corporations Act 2001).
