About the role
The City of Coffs Harbour is seeking an On-site Sewage Management (OSSM) / Plumbing and Drainage Regulation Inspector to join our Compliance and Regulatory Enforcement team within the Sustainable Places Group. In this role, you will regulate on-site sewage management systems and plumbing and drainage installations to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and to protect both environmental and public health outcomes.
You will undertake inspections, assess applications, provide technical advice, and support the delivery of the City's OSSM Strategy. The position also plays an important role in enforcement activities under the Plumbing and Drainage Act and Local Government Act, while fostering strong relationships with the community, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
About you
knowledgeable and experienced professional with a background in plumbing, wastewater, environmental health, or a related field. You bring strong technical expertise in OSSM systems and plumbing and drainage regulations, along with a solid understanding of relevant legislation. You are confident in conducting inspections, providing advice, and managing compliance matters.
With well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, you can engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach. You are also a collaborative team player who takes ownership of your work and contributes positively to team outcomes
