Bishop Druitt College
Variety of roles available - Full-Time or Part-Time, and both Ongoing (Permanent) or Fixed-Term to suit your lifestyle.
About Us at Bishop Druitt College (BDC)
We are Bishop Druitt College (most people call us BDC), the leading K-12 Anglican school on the stunning NSW North Coast. We are all about high academic standards, great pastoral care, and exciting, modern ways of learning. Through what we call the "BDC Way", we help shape the whole person by focusing on curiosity, deep care for one another, and plenty of fun extra-curricular activities.
The Opportunity
Are you a passionate, curious, and hands-on Science Teacher? We have some fantastic opportunities to join our collaborative Secondary Science team.
We are open for expressions of interest from experienced Science Teachers for a variety of positions:
- Full-Time & Part-Time options
- Ongoing (permanent) & Fixed-Term contracts
If you love the idea of inspiring our secondary students and supporting them to be "World Prepared", you will fit right in here. We are especially on the lookout for teachers with experience—or a genuine drive—to teach Stage 6 Science (Years 11 and 12). Whatever your scientific passion is—whether it's Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, or Science Extension—we want to hear from you!
With our Anglican ethos forming the fabric of our culture, we are also looking for someone who is open to teaching in our Religious Ethics and Philosophy (REP). This program aligns beautifully with our supportive Anglican values and helps our students grow into kind, thoughtful young adults.
Reporting to the Head of Faculty - Science, you will;
- Bring Science to Life: Plan and teach engaging, safe, and hands-on practical Science lessons that get students asking "why" and "how".
- Get Creative with Tech: Use fun, inquiry-based teaching styles in our modern lab spaces (we use Google Suite, Schoolbox, and TASS to keep things running smoothly).
- Guide Our Seniors (as an advantage): Support and mentor our Stage 6 students, helping them feel confident and fully prepared for their HSC journey in your area of expertise.
- Share Helpful Feedback: Keep students and parents in the loop with supportive, constructive feedback on how they are going with both theory and practical work.
- Be a Mentor: Jump into our Tutor program to check in on student wellbeing and help everyone feel safe and welcome.
- Get Involved: Help out with the fun stuff outside the classroom, like sports, creative arts, camps, or excursions.
Requirements for the role:
- A teaching degree with a focus on Secondary Science.
- NESA registration (or eligibility to get it).
- A current NSW Working with Children Check.
- First Aid and CPR certificates (or a willingness to grab them before you start).
- Experience in teaching Science to all secondary ages (Years 7-12).
- A background in teaching Stage 6 Science in any specialty (Biology, Chemistry, Investigation Science, Physics, or Earth Science) or being excited and ready to take that next step in your career with the support of our experienced team, will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated expertise in a student-centered, inquiry-based learning plus comfort using digital tools and laboratory technology.
About You:
- You are supportive of our Christian, caring Anglican ethos.
- You are a great communicator who builds easy, positive relationships with students, parents, and fellow teachers.
- You are a true team player—flexible, collaborative, and always keen to keep learning and growing.
Why You'll Love Working With Us
- You will be part of a super supportive, forward-thinking Science faculty.
- We offer excellent professional development, including help with NESA accreditation and HSC marking.
- Our laboratories and campus are modern, bright, and packed with great technology.
- Plus, you get to live and work on the gorgeous Coffs Coast.
How to Apply
Apply online on our recruitment website, make sure you include;
- A Cover Letter letting us know your preferred working arrangements (Full-Time/Part-Time, Ongoing/Fixed-Term) and why you are the perfect fit.
- A current Resume/CV showing your qualifications, experience, and NESA details.
- Contact details for three professional referees.
- Copies of your NESA accreditation and NSW WWCC.
BDC is a child-safe environment, so a Working with Children Check and pre-employment screening is a requirement of the role.
