Museum Education and Public Programs Officer (Part-time)

City of Bunbury

  • 25 hours per week
  • Hourly rate: $43.30 plus superannuation

We are seeking a creative and delivery-focused Education and Public Programs Officer to design and facilitate engaging programs for a wide range of audiences.
This is a part-time role with a strong emphasis on hands-on program delivery, community connection and collaborative partnerships.

About the Role
As the Museum Education and Public Programs Officer, you will plan, develop and deliver high-quality education and public programs that connect people of all ages with local history and heritage.
You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to create engaging, inclusive and relevant experiences, while also supporting the growth and sustainability of programming through funding opportunities.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on facilitating programs, building relationships and bringing ideas to life in a community-focused environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and deliver classes, tours and public programs for diverse audiences
  • Facilitate engaging and inclusive learning experiences for schools, including curriculum-linked programs and resources
  • Collaborate with internal teams and partners to design and deliver initiatives that enhance visitor engagement, including exhibition-related events
  • Deliver established programs such as Winter Warmers and the History's Mysteries Young Writers Competition, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships
  • Identify, apply for and acquit grant funding to support program delivery and development
  • Coordinate program logistics including bookings, resources and scheduling
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes to inform continuous improvement

About you:
To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Experience delivering education, community or public programs
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with confidence engaging varied audiences
  • Experience developing learning resources or programs, ideally linked to curriculum outcomes
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to manage multiple programs and priorities effectively
  • Experience in grant writing or securing funding is highly desirable
  • A proactive, creative and adaptable approach to program delivery
