Library Assistant - Part Time and Casual

Are you passionate about books, community engagement, and exceptional customer service? Nambucca Valley Council are seeing two part time and a pool of casual, friendly and enthusiastic Library Assistants to join our Library Services team!

About the Role:

As a Library Assistant, you will play a key role in providing high-quality customer service to library visitors, assisting with day-to-day operations, and supporting library programs and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with general enquiries, membership registrations, and borrowing and returning library materials
  • Shelve and maintain library collections in an orderly manner
  • Support library programs, events, and community activities
  • Provide basic technical assistance with public computers, printing, and digital library resources
  • Process new library materials and maintain accurate records
  • Ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all library users

About You:

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has relevant library qualifications or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Has excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Is reliable, adaptable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Has computer skills and a willingness to learn new technologies

What We Offer:

  • Pay rate varies from $541.76 to $1072.93
  • Casual Pay rate: $41.03 per hour, including casual loading
  • A supportive and friendly work environment
  • The opportunity to contribute to a valued community service
