Coordinator Civil Maintenance

The Opportunity

We're looking for a proactive and energetic Coordinator Civil Maintenance to take ownership of our civil operations and keep our drains, streetlights, roads and footpaths maintained. As part of the management team, you will contribute to strategic planning and organisational decision-making.

You'll oversee maintenance, ensure compliance, safety, procurement, and day‑to‑day operations of the civil maintenance team, and work closely with our project and design teams, to ensure we deliver exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the Civil Maintenance team to drive productivity, safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate Contractors in the delivery of civil maintenance, public lighting and street furniture works, including project delivery where required.
  • Proactively manage contracts to ensure contracted works are delivered holistically, on time and to budget with minimal financial variations.
  • Coordinate proactive and reactive maintenance of Council's storm water drainage network and associated assets.
  • Coordinate proactive and reactive inspections as per the requirement of Council's Road Management Plan (RMP), ensuring compliance with the intent of the RMP is achieved.
  • Develop and implement civil contracts such as Civil Maintenance Works and Services, Drainage Maintenance Services, RMP Network Inspection, Pavement Marking Services, Crack Sealing.
  • Ensure that effective systems and registers are in place that support good governance in record keeping and administration of associated civil works activities.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering and/or related field, with significant experience in civil works, maintenance and engineering administration activities, with proven leadership experience, or lesser formal qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
  • Proven experience managing a high performing in-house or contracted civil maintenance team, or a similar operational role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence with software and reporting tools .
  • Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
  • No relevant criminal record found in a Police Check.
