The City is seeking an enthusiastic Business Development Officer to join our Economic Development team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, creating opportunities and shaping a strong, resilient economy.
You will play a hands-on role in attracting new businesses to the City, supporting the retention and growth of existing enterprises, and contributing to tourism development initiatives. Working closely with internal teams, local businesses and external partners, you will help promote the City and region as a compelling place to invest, operate and visit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying, attracting and engaging potential businesses and investors to the City
- Developing and delivering business attraction and retention initiatives aligned with the City's economic development objectives
- Building trusted relationships with local businesses, industry groups and regional stakeholders
- Support the promotion of the City and region to raise its profile as a destination for business, investment and tourism
About You
You are a motivated and commercially minded professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for local and regional economic development. You can identify opportunities, influence outcomes and translate strategy into practical action.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the City's economic and tourism growth while working in a collaborative local government environment.
Essential Criteria:
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Business, or equivalent demonstrated experience through extensive training or professional practice
- High-level computer literacy, including the ability to produce clear, accurate and professional reports and documentation for a range of audiences
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build, engage and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Well-developed organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving and analytical skills
