Strathcona Girls Grammar is seeking a passionate and qualified Auslan Teacher to join our multidisciplinary Learning Enhancement Department. In this position, you'll play a vital role in supporting profoundly deaf students and promoting the use and understanding of Australian Sign Language (Auslan) across our school community.

About the Role

The Auslan Teacher will:

• Deliver engaging and high quality Auslan instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Collaborate with the Teacher of the Deaf, classroom teachers, and departmental staff to support and promote bilingual/bicultural education.
• Provide regular feedback to students and parents/guardians about learning progress.
• Foster inclusive communication and cultural awareness throughout the school community.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure curriculum documentation aligns with school standards.
• Use technology effectively, including the school's Learning Management System and digital teaching tools.

This role is ideal for an educator committed to empowering students who are deaf or hard of hearing and promoting Auslan as a valued language in education. Initially a part-time casual position with potential to becoming an ongoing role.

About You

You will possess:

• A Diploma of Auslan (essential).
• Current Full or Provisional Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
• Sound knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum or Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) as it applies to Auslan teaching.
• Sound understanding of AITSL Teaching Standards and contemporary learning practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Experience designing and implementing tailored curricula that improve student learning outcomes.
• Proficiency in Information Communication Technology and digital learning environments.
• A clear commitment to Child Safety and inclusive education.
