The Opportunity

Maribyrnong City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to take on the role of Coordinator, Chief Executive Office. In this key position, you will act as an adviser to the Chief Executive Officer and lead the operations of the CEO Office. You will provide high-level executive support, drive delivery of the Council's advocacy program, and oversee communications from the Chief Executive Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all activities of the CEO office and act as the primary contact for the CEO with Key Government, community and business stakeholders
  • Lead the design and implementation of Council's advocacy strategy and program
  • Develop and implement the internal and external communication plan, including social media for the Office of the CEO and Mayor.
  • Manage and provide a comprehensive range of high quality, professional and responsive executive support services to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Provide leadership to staff in the Office of the CEO, Mayor and Councillors Office.
  • Provide support and direction to the ELT EA's

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, social policy or other relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated understanding of working in a political environment.
  • Ability to pivot and balance competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Customer Excellence
  • Several years of demonstrated relevant experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and public relations skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of local government and the role of the Chief Executive Officer
  • Alignment with organsiational values
  • A clear working knowledge of State and Federal Government protocols
  • No relevant criminal record found in a police check.

To fulfil the requirements of the role, attendance will be required outside of standard operating hours. Time in lieu arrangements will apply.
