Working across the Shire, you will be trained and mentored by qualified professionals. Our Building and Maintenance team will help you develop your hands on skills, while you work towards an industry preferred qualification, stay local, and get paid.
Working within Upper Lachlan Shire Council towards your accreditation as a carpenter.
As part of this opportunity, you will
- Successfully undertake and complete study in Certificate III in Carpentry through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) within the 4 year apprenticeship contract period.
- Learn how to interpret plans and assist on maintenance and construction projects relating to civil works, council buildings and facilities.
- Learning how to operate or use hand tools, power tools, plant and equipment.
- Collaborating with experienced building and maintenance leaders to learn and develop valuable skills in this industry,

To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess the following capabilities and knowledge:
- Ability to work as part of a team
- A can-do attitude, willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions
- Commitment to full term study requirements
- Ongoing commitment to safety, quality and principles of continuous improvement
- Minimum Completion of High School Certificate or equivalent industry experience.
- Drivers Licence (P1 or above)
During your tenure you'll be employed by Council, while completing on-the-job training. We will provide you with ongoing mentoring and support to help you achieve your career goals and unleash your true potential.

- Hourly rates from $11.90 up to $30.37 plus 12% superannuation (Council's Salary System and the Local Government State Award)
