The Access and Inclusion Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Diversity Project Officer to join the team. As our Diversity Project Officer, you will collaborate on team based approaches and support strategies and plans for interculturalism, language services and inclusion policy. You will strengthen community connections, build capacity as well as develop and maintain collaborative and strategic alliances with colleagues, partners and community groups to support and develop Council's community development initiatives that build a welcoming and inclusive City.
Key Responsibilities
- The implementation of strategies and plans for interculturalism, language services policy, access and inclusion.
- Support and facilitate other Council departments to develop and implement projects and programs which respond to the needs of diverse communities identified in strategies.
- Develop and manage partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Community Development / Social Policy / Health Policy or related disciplines with relevant experience or lesser formal qualification with substantial experience.
- Demonstrated community development skills and experience in developing, planning, and delivering projects preferably within a community/local government context with a commitment to access and equity outcomes.
- Proven ability to support the implementation of strategies and plans documenting and reporting progress and achievements.
- Well-developed collaboration and facilitation skills with the capacity to build partnerships across sectors, with staff and communities to enable participation and engagement of a diversity of skills, experiences and backgrounds.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience in report writing, and submissions providing relevant analysis and data.
- Well-developed problem solving skills that produce cooperative outcomes within a team environment and with the ability to adapt communications to identified need and/or purpose of the audience with varied levels of understanding and experience.
