The Opportunity
The Council's ‘Assets and Capital' Department is seeking experienced, driven, and innovative Project Managers to help us turn our goals into deliverables. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in planning and managing civil projects in accordance with Council's Project Management Framework and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and coordinate the delivery of assigned capital works projects from commencement to completion including complex, multiple and concurrent projects.
- Manage stakeholder partnerships, engagement, negotiations and approvals throughout the project life cycle.
- Provide high quality service to our internal and external customers to deliver quality places and spaces for our community through Project and Asset Management excellence.
- Champion the use of the Project Management Framework on assigned projects.
- Identify, lead and implement innovative project value management resulting in cost effective and solution based outcomes.
- Provide support and assistance to the Coordinator Project Delivery Civil in achieving the department's commitments.
- Assist in investigating and responding to customer reference management queries in accordance to Council's policies.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Architecture or other related disciplines, or lesser qualification with substantial knowledge of and experience within the construction industry, building and civil project management.
- Extensive experience within project management including design, construction and contractor management.
- Demonstrated by experience in managing multiple complex and concurrent projects.
- Solid understanding of best practice contracting and tendering processes, Australian construction standards, codes of practice and relevant legislation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders in a complex public sector environment.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge, skills and experience with managing and implementing the duties and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004
- Ability to effectively work independently and within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Advance level of computer proficiency including Project Management tools and MS Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiency on multiple construction and work sites.
- Current Victorian driver's license.
