About the role
As a Waterway Engineer at the City of Coffs Harbour, you will develop, review and implement studies, strategies, policies and technical guidelines that relate to water sensitive urban design and floodplain management. You'll collaborate with internal teams, external consultants and the community to enhance flood resilience, protect natural waterways and support urban development.
This role will involve managing technical studies, maintaining critical flood data, and providing expert advice on development applications and infrastructure planning. As a Waterway Engineer, you will experience a dynamic mix of strategic planning, technical analysis, stakeholder engagement and policy development.

About you?
- Relevant degree qualification and demonstrated relevant experience at an appropriate level (ie.Floodplain Management, Engineering (Civil or Environmental) or related discipline)
- National Construction Induction Certification (Whitecard)
- Current Class C driver's licence.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, hydrologic and GIS software (e.g., TUFLOW, DRAINS, HEC-RAS, MUSIC, ArcMap).
- Knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying current NSW Environmental, Planning and Local Government legislation will be well regarded.
