About the role

The Brimbank Local Lived Experience Lead is a key member of the senior leadership team, providing Lived Experience leadership to a team of peer workers and a advice and expertise to the wider multidisciplinary team.

The role will:

  • Be guided by the fundamental values that shape the approach and philosophy of consumer lived experience practice, including choice, connection, and human rights
  • Will embed lived experience principles through all systems, processes, and activities of the Brimbank Mental Health and Wellbeing program.

Your duties include:

  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of the Brimbank Local Lived Experience plan and the supporting of other strategies and frameworks to ensure lived experience is centred and thrives in the wider work of the Brimbank Local.
  • Oversee the design and coordination of Lived Experience participation
  • Provide mentorship in collaboration with the Peer cadet lead as part of the Brimbank Local Peer cadet program
  • Contribute to initiatives to deliver cohealth's strategic directions and commitment to values-based care, co-design and community engagement.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Personal lived/living experience of mental health challenges and/or situational distress and journey of wellbeing/healing and ability to intentionally use these learnings to purposefully support others.
  • Proof of qualification to be sighted
  • Victorian Driver's License
  • Highly desirable - completion of Certificate 4 in Peer Support or equivalent and/or Intentional Peer Support
