Are you a passionate and experienced Maternal and Child Health Nurse looking to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable families? Join Nillumbik Shire Council as an Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Nurse and play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of infants, young children, mothers, and their families during times of increased need. In this rewarding role, you'll deliver intensive, home-based support using a strengths-based approach, addressing complex issues including infant mental health, family violence, and disability.
What a typical day will look like;
- Supporting infants, children, mothers, and their families during times of increased need, by providing targeted support and interventions aimed at improving health and wellbeing outcomes
- Collaboration and partnership with others services
- Triaging and prioritising referrals
- Conducting initial assessments and developmental screenings of at risk children
- Promoting health, growth and development of at risk children
- Supporting maternal health and wellbeing by identifying at risk mothers and referring them to appropriate support services
- Providing families with appropriate advice, referrals, and information relating to counselling, parenting support, and access to community resources
What you will bring to the role;
- Extensive and varied experience as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse.
- Experience and sound knowledge of child health, development and behaviour, and the contemporary issues facing families.
- Experience in engaging, developing and maintaining working relationships with families, service providers and the wider community.
- Demonstrated competence in managing a diverse range of vulnerable clients via an outreach service.
- An ability to respond to families with complex risk factors.
