About the Role
As our Major Events Officer, you'll play a key role in making Bunbury one of WA's premier events destinations. Reporting to the Senior Major Events Officer, you'll help plan and execute large-scale public events that celebrate our city, attract tourism, and boost local pride.
You'll take ownership of the day-to-day event logistics and operations—making sure every element is carefully planned, expertly coordinated, and delivered with professionalism.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the planning and delivery of major events and signature activations
- Managing event logistics: bookings, contracts, risk assessments, permits, compliance, and budgets
- Collaborating with promoters, sponsors, suppliers, and community stakeholders
- Supporting the development of project planning documents and event evaluations
- Helping recruit and coordinate event volunteers
- Assisting with sponsorship and funding opportunities
- Working outside normal business hours for event delivery when needed
About You
You're an all-rounder with a love for logistics, a passion for live experiences, and the ability to keep cool under pressure. You enjoy the thrill of working in fast-paced environments and take pride in creating events that run like clockwork and leave a lasting impression.
You'll thrive in this role if you have:
- Experience coordinating or supporting events, ideally in local government or large public settings
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple moving parts
- Excellent stakeholder communication—whether it's with sponsors, suppliers, or internal teams
- Confidence in budget monitoring, compliance, and documentation
- A proactive attitude with a solution-focused mindset
- Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends when events are on
