The opportunity
You will travel between client sites, playing a vital role in ensuring good indoor air quality where it matters.
Cleanrooms, workstations and safety cabinets are barriers against airborne contamination, protecting the health and safety of laboratory personnel and the environment. Regular inspection, testing and certification is essential to ensure the ongoing safety and conformance with Australian and International standards.
The role will suit if you enjoy working autonomously, managing your own work day and liaising with clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out diagnosis to identify necessary errors and repairs of: Biological Safety Cabinets Class I, BSC Class II, BSC Class III, Fume Cupboard, Recirculating Fume Cupboard, Cytotoxic Drug safety Cabinets, Pressure Gauges, Pharmaceutical Isolators, Clean work stations.
- Testing the above equipment using a variety of diagnostic tools to evaluate serviceability and ensure functionality.
- Calibrating or replacing damaged parts, broken wires and cracked cables or reassembling faulty electrical components and parts.
- Performing preventative and routine maintenance according to AU/NZ standards
- Producing Service report & Test reports in accordance with the relevant Standards after competition of each job.
- Maintaining logs of repairs and other equipment-related matters.
The role is predominantly around Melbourne metro but some travel interstate and regionally is required. Flexibility to work some weekends and after hours is a necessary part of the role due to restrictions on accessing some sites (ie operating theatres).
A company vehicle with tools and ladders is supplied, with over time rates are paid as applicable.
About you
You understand the importance of validation to standards and pride yourself on your data accuracy. Preferably you have experience with air quality, however we also invite applicants with laboratory backgrounds and relevant skills.
You are fit, take pride in your work and are looking for a long term move to a credible, leading brand.
You will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in science, environment or a related field is preferred
- 2+ years of relevant experience as a technician
- Able to perform analytical tasks with awareness of OHS regulations
- Mechanical competence and know-how
- Ability to break down often complex technical information into a language clients will understand
- Professional communication skills
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- A desire to quickly learn new knowledge and techniques
- Ability to get a Police Check and Working with Children Check
- An EWP (working at heights) certificate is desirable.
