About Us

We are North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN), Victoria's largest independent, locally governed and run, not-for-profit PHN, dedicated to improving primary health care in our community.

What are PHNs?

PHNs have been established with two key objectives:

  • Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of services for community members, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes
  • Improving coordination of care to ensure people receive the right care in the right place, at the right time

A typical week may include:

  • Supporting primary care providers seeking eating disorders information and guidance on screening, assessment and referral
  • Facilitating referrals for community members and connecting people to services that are local, affordable and accessible
  • Mapping existing services across the region, identifying gaps and seeking to address these through the provision of targeted capacity building and training activities for healthcare providers
  • Promoting awareness and evidence-based approaches to eating disorder treatment relevant to primary and allied health care providers in private practice
  • Identifying training and workforce needs and opportunities and liaising with stakeholders to support identification and implementation of strategies

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications in health or mental health. A nursing qualification is desirable.
  • Knowledge of best practice approaches to Eating Disorder treatment (desirable)
  • Skills in care navigation with the ability to initiate contact, facilitate linkages and collaboration, and resolve barriers to people receiving timely care in their local community
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills including the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative partnerships and to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of the Australian primary health care system, including understanding of the stepped care approach.
  • High level communication skills, ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities

What's in it for you?

  • A friendly and supportive professional environment
  • Career progression opportunities
  • Great work-life balance (Hybrid options to work from home and in office)
  • Opportunity to be part of a new project in eating disorders aimed to address challenges in accessing local, affordable care

Other Benefits:

  • Newly Introduced Life Leave - up to 4 days of paid leave a year for cultural celebrations, family events, or your birthday
  • Generous paid parental leave for primary and secondary carers
  • Additional paid leave at Christmas/NY
  • Can apply for additional purchased leave (48/52)
  • Fun social club and health and wellbeing activities

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a VIC Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
