Working across the Shire, you will be trained and mentored by qualified professionals. Our Parks & Gardens team will help you develop your hands on skills, while you work towards a nationally recognised qualification, stay local, and get paid!
Join us to complete a Certificate III Horticulture with Upper Lachlan Shire Council.
You will receive comprehensive training and practical exposure to various aspects of:
- Information on plants and their culture;
- Control plant pests, diseases and disorders;
- Utilising provided tools and machinery to complete repairs and maintenance effectively;
- Collaborating with experienced practitioners to learn and develop valuable skills
- Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment

To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess the following capabilities and knowledge:
- Ability to work as part of a team
- A can-do attitude, willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions
- Commitment to full term of the traineeship and study requirements
- Ongoing commitment to safety, quality and principles of continuous improvement
- Preferred completion of Higher School Certificate
- Manual Drivers Licence (P1 or above)
- WHS Construction Induction (White Card)
During your traineeship, you'll be employed by us, while completing on-the-job training. We will provide you with ongoing mentoring and support to help you achieve your career goals and unleash your true potential.

- Hourly rates from $11.90 up to $30.37 plus 11% superannuation (Council's Salary System and the Local Government State Award)
