Organisational Development Officer

At Torres Strait Island Regional Council (TSIRC), we do more than provide services—we build strong, vibrant communities while respecting Ailan Kastom and local traditions.

We are looking for a passionate Organisational Development Officer to help our staff learn, grow, and develop their skills. This role is all about supporting training, leadership development, and staff engagement to create a positive and capable workforce.

What You'll Do:

  • Training & Development - Organise and deliver training programs, including leadership development.
  • Support Staff Growth - Help staff improve their skills through training plans and performance reviews.
  • Build Strong Teams - Support employee engagement activities like staff surveys and recognition programs.
  • System & Budget Management - Keep training records up to date and track training budgets.
  • Health & Safety Training - Work with the Safety & Wellbeing team to ensure staff are well-trained and safe.
  • Community Engagement - Support career days and promote Council as an employer of choice.

What We're Looking For

  • A qualification (or experience) in training, education, or workforce development
  • Experience delivering training and creating learning programs
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
  • Good communication skills - able to connect with people at all levels
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Passion for helping others learn and grow
  • Understanding of Torres Strait languages (Meriam Mer, Kala Lagaw Ya, or Creole)

Other Requirements:

  • Some travel across the Torres Strait Islands
  • Compliance with workplace health and safety policies
  • Understanding of local government principles and Ailan Kastom
