Who is our next Incubation Technician?
Ideally, they have just completed their Bachelors' Degree in Animal Science or have relevant prior experience.
They will have a desire to craft out a long-term career with Aviagen, following the career progression pathway.
A clear communicator with the ability to learn new tasks and to maintain accurate data.
Able and prepared to attend to out of hours alarms when rostered. A licence and own transport is needed to be able to carry out these duties.
What is involved in the job?
As an Incubation Technician based at our state-of-the-art hatchery in Goulburn, you will support the Senior Incubation Technician and the Incubation Supervisor to develop and implement effective incubation practices for poultry breeding.
This will involve technical support, data collection, and assisting in controlled breeding experiments to optimize embryonic development and hatch rates in alignment with Aviagen breeder standards. Specifically, once developed through to competence, the incumbent will:
- Forecast flock hatches, adjust incubation plans to meet customer orders, and monitor facility equipment.
- Understand, collate, and record data on incubation and sets, including hatch windows, temperatures, co2 levels, 10-day candling, hatch breakouts, and egg hygiene.
- Identify and address issues in preparation, incubation, and hatch outcomes to ensure continuous improvement in production.
- Responding to hatchery alarms to ensure incubation concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
