The core mission of Anglicare (NSW South, West & ACT) is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children, young people, and families. We particularly focus on serving vulnerable communities in Liverpool, the ACT and regional, rural NSW.
The Role
Anglicare NSW is seeking a Carer Support Practitioner (Foster and Kinship) to join our team in an ongoing capacity. You will work to grow and develop our pool of authorised carers by undertaking carer recruitment activities, assessments, and organising carer training programs to ensure they can provide therapeutic parenting to children and young people.
You will work closely with Foster and Kinship Carers alongside the Permanency Support Program (PSP) Foster and Kinship Care Team to support high-quality care arrangements for children and young people.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute community engagement strategies and partnerships for carer recruitment.
- Participate in foster and kinship carer assessment interviews and activities.
- Contribute to carer reviews and assist in organising carer events, including training sessions.
- Assist in implementing Therapeutic Response Plans, especially with carers.
- Collaborate on creating a carer-to-carer mentoring program and overseeing its progress.
If you bring:
- A Diploma in Community Services, human services, social work, or welfare or equivalent.
- Experience in working with children, young people, their families, foster and kinship carers.
- Experience in cultural strengths-based practice with Aboriginal people, families, and communities.
Desirable
- Trained in Step by Step and Shared Lives (a suite of foster care and relative kinship training and assessment tools produced by ACWA).
- Availability to be able to work across numerous sites if required
