The opportunity

We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter/Fabricator to join our engineering services team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, fabrication, and installation of mechanical equipment essential to the operation of our water supply and sewerage systems.

Key responsbilities of your role are:

• Perform routine maintenance on water supply pumping and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
• Repair water supply pumping equipment, metal fixtures, and fittings at pump stations and treatment works.
• Fabricate and weld metal fixtures and fittings as required for the installation and maintenance of sewerage and water supply infrastructure.
• Collaborate with supervisors in the development of safe work methods and risk assessments.
• Participate in WHS inductions, training sessions, and workplace inspections.

Required skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will need a Trade Certificate as a fitter or in metal fabrication or other mechanical field, a full drivers licence; proficiency in the use portable electronic devices (table and smart phone) and the ability to read and work from detailed drawings and technical manuals. Participation in an on-call roster to respond to after-hours emergencies is a requirement of the position.
