About us

With a proud history matched with a progressive mindset, Kids First deliver Australian-first and sector leading programs designed to strengthen family relationships, support healing and recovery from trauma and set children and young people up for brighter futures. The Caring Dads team has shown incredible skill and insight, undertaking complex work that requires comprehensive knowledge of family violence, interagency relationships, and child development.

About the role

Caring Dads is an early intervention program developed in Canada by the University of Toronto and Changing Ways; for fathers who have physically abused, emotionally abused, or neglected their children, or exposed their children to domestic violence or who are deemed to be at high-risk for these behaviours.

The Caring Dads Program consists of case management support and a 17-week, empirically based, manualised group intervention for fathers. Systematic outreach occurs to mothers to ensure safety occurs during the intervention. Caring Dads program principles emphasise the need to enhance men's motivation, promote child-centred fathering, address men's ability to engage in respectful, non-abusive co-parenting with children's mothers, recognise that children's experience of trauma will impact the rate of possible change, and work collaboratively with other service providers to ensure that children benefit.

The primary purpose is to provide effective, efficient, and professional operational management of the Caring Dads program within the Prevention and Recovery Services.

To be successful in this role:

  • Applicants must hold a tertiary qualification (bachelor's degree or higher) in social work, Psychology, or other related discipline.
  • Have demonstrated 5+ years professional experience and skills in operational management.

  • Can you lead and communicate effectively, ensuring the organisation of yourself and others?

If so, then we have a perfect opportunity for you!
