You're Opportunity
Great opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated Chef to assist the hospitality team on a casual basis covering annual leave and sick leave at our facility.
Our Expectation
To be successful in this role ideally you will have Chef experience within a commercial kitchen environment, have excellent knowledge of quality food safety standards, menu creation and meal planning relating to quality food service.
You must be willing to work autonomously within this role and within a team, have an abundance of patience, smiles and a compassionate nature when interacting with our residents.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Director of Care, manage the kitchen and its environment
- Budgeting of catering and related kitchen supplies
- In conjunction with Nutrition Australia develop appropriate menu's
- Ensure Speech Pathology recommendations are adhered to
- Storage & Inventory Management
- Maintenance of food supplies and ordering of groceries, fruit & vegetables
- Preparation and cooking meals for the residents as per menu both winter and summer
- Special dietary requirements including allergies/intolerances and textured modified meals
- Maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen and service area
- Maintain high quality standards of food hygiene and safety
- Excellent customer service skills
Skill Requirements
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery - with actual hands-on experience OR equivalent 3 years hands-on commercial cooking and willingness to work in an aged care setting
- Food Safety Certification will be held in high regard
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices and WHS
- Competent in food preparation, cooking and plating
- Good financial understanding of catering operations and budget management
- Proven ability and willingness to work harmoniously as a member of a small team in a fast-paced environment
- Be well presented and enthusiastic
